Titans hand Spartans 9-4 loss at Centre

The Titans removed another monkey off their back on Friday evening as the soundly defeated the Almaguin Spartans 9-4. The Spartans had already defeated the Titans twice on the road earlier this season. The Titans coaching staff had the players well prepared for the game on the much bigger ice surface of the Centre. In the first period, the Titans came out of the gate and jumped to an early 2-0 lead on golas from Guillaume Taupier and Simon Brannvall. But before the buzzer sounded, the visitors managed to tie the score at two goals apiece. Shots in the opening period were 24-13 Titans. In the middle period the Titans blew the game wide open scoring 5 unanswered goals to lead 7-2 heading to the final period. Harald Sundell and Alex Provost-Ross each scored twice. Taupier added his second of the game. A total of four goals were scored in the final 20 minutes with each team scoring 2 goals. Hat tricks were on the menu as Taupier and Sundell each got a hattie. Sundell added one assist and Provost-Ross contributed with 3 helpers for a 5 point night. Rylan Freed had 3 assists and Julien Vogt also chipped in with 2 assists. Raffaele Izzo got the win facing 37 shots. The Titans had a total of 45 shots on the 2 Spartans goaltenders. The game’s 3 stars were Sundell, Taupier and Freed. Next up for the Titans is another home game, a Sunday matinee against the West Nipissing Lynx, game time is 2pm.
