Titans edge Shield 5-3, stay on top in North

Playing their second game in 24 hours the Titans, who only manged one goal in Ville Marie welcomed Guillaume Taupier back in the line up for a Friday night encounter with the South Muskoka Shield. Taupier didn’t disappoint registering 2 goals and assisting on another to help lead the Titans to a home victory of 5-3 over the Shield. Alex Provost-Ross had two goals as well and Simon Brannvall had the other goal and 2 assists. The Titans never trailed leading 2-0 and 3-2 after the first and second periods. The Titans scored twice in the final period compared to the Shield’s lone goal. Still missing from the line up is Rylan Freed, who’s currently in 5th position in league scoring. Freed who has an upper body injury is expected to be ready for the upcoming GMHL Showcase tournament on Tuesday in Port Colborne. The Titans outshot the visitors 58-25.   Raffaele Izzo got the victory. The Titans earned their 20th win of the season. Only 2 other teams in the league have reached this plateau. And both those teams are in the South division. The Titans have only 3 games left to play before the holiday break but it won’t be a picnic as the 3 games are in 3 days. First up a Friday night home game against the Seguin Huskies. Followed by a return visit to Ville Marie on Saturday night. The final game will be a Sunday matinee against the Almaguin Spartans.
