The Titans were playing a road game on Friday evening in South River against their old regional rivals the Almaguin Spartans. In a game that featured more shots than a shooting gallery at a midway, 123 in total. The Titans held the edge 71 to 52. But the Spartans won the game 3-2. After a scoreless first period, Simon Brannvall scored only 10 seconds into the second period. The Spartans only needed 56 seconds to tie the score and took the lead midway through the period. The score was increased to 3-1 for the home team. A Rylan Freed goal with only 54 seconds left in the game made it closer, but not close enough. A solid performance by the Spartans netminder and a couple defensive zone letdowns were the Titans demise. All in all, the Titans played a hell of a game. Titans welcomed a new player in the lineup this evening. Defenseman Loic Odin who hails from Switzerland and was acquired from the Niagara Whalers arrived at the rink only 40 minutes before the start of the game. After a 5 ½ hour drive from Niagara, he didn’t look to shaky. Raffaele Izzo who takes the loss left the game midway through the second due to an injury he suffered during the warmup. Jason Goes came in for relief.
The Titans get one day to rest before they host another top team, the New Tecumseth Civics Sunday afternoon at 2pm.
