The Titans are now hearing the perennial sayings now, they’re backs are up against the wall, it’s win or go home etc… But the series ain’t over until one team wins 3 of the 5 games. Yes, the Spartans now lead the series 2 games to none following a 3-1 win over the Titans on Friday evening in South River. But also remember one thing “Everyone loves the underdog”. In a scoreless first period, the only thing the scoresheet was seeing was a parade of penalties. 10 in total with the Titans getting 7.
Dayton Murray opened the scoring in the second period with a Titans power play goal. But before the period would end the Spartans would score 3 unanswered goals to head into the third holding onto a 3-1 lead. Another chippy period as the teams combined for 9 minors with the Spartans taking 6 to the Titans 3. A quiet third period with no goals scored and each team getting 2 minors apiece.
Aaron Young made his return between the pipes and was solid facing 46 shots. His counterpart Erik Spath stopped 38 0f 39 shots.
Game #3 is Sunday evening at 7:0pm back in South River and the Titans face the unviable position of having to win the next three games to advance to the North division finals.
If required, game #4 would be back in Temiscaming on Tuesday March 6th at 7:30pm.
