Pirates take round 2 of Hwy 101 battle

The Titans were hosting the Ville Marie Pirates for the second time this season with high hopes of getting on an even keel with their new regional rivals on Thursday evening at the Centre. Things got off to a good start as Alex Provost-Ross opened the scoring in the first period with assists from Rylan Freed and Julien Vogt. But the second period belonged to the visitors as they scored three unanswered goals to head to the dressing rooms after 40 minutes leading 3-1. The Pirates dominated the entire middle period outshooting the Titans 16 to 8. The third period didn’t start well for the Titans as Ville Marie scored 2 more times to increase their lead to 5-1. The Titans tried to make a game of it scoring at 14:25 on a Rylan Freed goal assisted White and Arason. Then with more than 2 minutes to play Coach Bendi pulled his goaltender for an extra attacker and they responded with a goal from Simon Brannvall with helpers by Andersson & Provost-Ross. But the Pirates sealed the victory with an empty netter with only 5 seconds to play, final score 6-3 Pirates. The Pirates now lead the season series 2-0. Titans will play the Pirates in Ville-Marie on October 21st. Shots on goal were 46-35 Titans. The 3 stars of the game were Hugo Blum (VM), Nicolas Bellerose (VM) and Michael White (T).
