Civics hand a 7-5 setback to Titans

Another busy weekend for the Titans as started as they travelled to Alliston to take on the New Tecumseth Civics for their third encounter of the season. The Civics have won both previous games. Things got off to great start as the Titans scored the game’s first two goals in the first 10 minutes of play. Adrien Guenette scored the opener and Gustav Rollfelt got a power play goal. But the Civics replied with 3 goals of their own in less than 5 minutes to take a 3-2 lead heading into the second. A lone goal by Guillaume Taupier in the second created a tie at 3. But with only 8 seconds to play in the period, a couple of costly penalties had the Civics start the third with a 2 man advantage and they scored 3 goals in 3 minutes to put the Titans behind 6-3. Anthony Bedard got the Titans within 2 with his power play goal. Head coach Levesque pulled the goalie with over 2 minutes to play but the Civics found the back of the empty net, 7-4. Ryder Murray scored a power play goal with 1 second left in the game to make the final 7-5 Civics. Raffaele Izzo faced 42 shots while the Titans had 39. The Civics had 20 minutes in penalties compared to the Titans 17. Friday night the Titans will take a short drive down highway 11 to meet their regional rivals, the Almaguin Spartans. The season series is presently tied at one victory each.
