Pirates end Titans streak

The Titans were finally back in action after an 11 day break since their last game. On Thursday night they made the short drive up highway 101 to meet their newest regional rivals, the Ville Marie Pirates. The Titans opened the scoring on a power play goal in the first period by Hampus Andersson. Considering the length of the time between games the Titans played a sound first period and went to the first intermission leading 1-0. The Pirates replied on a power play goal of their own early in second period. Then the Titans ran into penalty problems and were facing a span of over 7 minutes playing shorthanded by two players for almost 4 minutes and held the Pirates off the scoresheet during the penalty kill. The teams were heading into the final 20 minutes tied at one goal apiece. Less than 2 minutes into the third, the Pirates scored what proved to be the winner. They added an insurance goal to make it 3-1. With the Pirates getting a penalty with less than 2 minutes to play, the Titans pulled the goalie for a 6 on 4 advantage, but the Pirates sealed the win with an empty netter to make the final score 4-1. The Titans have less than 24 hours to get ready for their next opponent, the South Muskoka Shield at 8pm at the Centre on Friday night.
