The scoreboard showed 7-3 Titans but the score was not indicative of the game. The Titans were given a game by the short-benched Lynx. It certainly wasn’t a classic but the Titans will take the 2 points. The Titans came out the gate on fire with Yannick Ethier getting two goals in 25 seconds. The Lynx would get one on a power play to make it 2-1. Goals from Zacharie Maheu and Hayden Moistner sent the teams to break with the Titans leading 4-1.
The middle period saw the Lynx claw their way back into the game with a pair of goals. The two teams played some cautious hockey at the start of the third. Just passed the midway part of the period, a power play goal Zacharie Maheu gave the Titans a little breathing room. But two more goals in the last 2 minutes sealed the win. Misha Akatnov with a spectacular highlight reel end to end rush and Marc-Antoine Turcotte with the final goal with only one second left. Eloi Bouchard was in goal tonight and played a solid game allowing 3 goals on 33 shots. Maheu ended the game with 2g-2a, Marc-Antoine Turcotte 1g-3a, Ethier 2g and Aleck Forcier added three assists. The Titans had 47 shots on the two Lynx netminders. The 3 stars were Maheu, Bouchard & Akatnov.
With the win the Titans record is now 17-5-1 good for 35 points and a share of top spot in the division with the Pirates, who have one game in hand. Coach Lacroix’s troop get Sunday off, but back to work on Monday to get ready for their next two games both on the road. Saturday night in Bancroft and then a Sunday afternoon game in Ottawa.
The Titans and the Lions club would like to thank all those that brought food for the Xmas baskets. It was a real success.
