The Temiscaming Titans announce that the club has changed hands under a new group of shareholders A group headed by Mr. Tim Toffolo(President) and Denis Lacourse (V-P, Director of hockey operations) along with four other local investors, have acquired the franchise, which had been inactive for two years and previously owned by Mr. Pascal Labranche.
The local shareholders are Bob MacLeod, Roger Mitchell, John Presseault, and Claude Desrochers. who aim to revitalize the team and return to GMHL hockey for the 2026-2027 season.
Tim Toffolo who is an established businessman and also brings extensive experience in junior hockey since 2003, having been an owner, general manager, or coach with the Port Colburn Pirates, the Niagara Rapids, the Pelham Panthers, and the Welland Whalers. Mr, Toffolo will also assume the position of General Manager.
Denis Lacourse has been associated with junior hockey since the Titans’ inception, having been a co-owner of the team for about ten years. He was also involved as a volunteer with the organization of the Titans’ predecessors, the Témiscaming Royals.
The new group will meet with candidates for the head coach position in the coming weeks.
The club is beginning recruitment of new players immediately and will soon launch a recruitment campaign for the billet families needed for the team’s return to the ice.
The Titans will also participate in the GMHL Draft next spring.
The Titans have enjoyed great success in the GMHL, they were North Division and regular season Champions twice as well in playing in four Russell Cup finals, winning two Russell Cups and never playing below .500 over their 12 seasons in the league. Their overall regular season and playoffs records are 325W-75L-15otl & 71W-26L-9otl.
The team is known for having contributed to the development of numerous players in the professional ranks in the United States, Europe, and at the university level in Canada and the United States.
