Read MoreThe Titans were facing the 14-0 New Tecumseth Civics on the road Wednesday evening. It was the second meeting of the season for the North division rivals. In the first game, the Titans held a 4-0 lead on the Civics but failed to hold on and went on to suffer a 6-4 setback. Thursday evening, the Civics were in their barn and came out ready for any Titans first period surprizes. Leading 1-0 at the end of the first period and 2-0 after 40 minutes, the game looked all in the Civics favor. They controlled most of the play but not for the brilliant play of netminder Raffaele Izzo, who made several highlight reel saves, the score could have been well out of reach. Early in the final period, Adrien Guenette (who was celebrating his birthday) broke in and fired a shot that went five hole on the Civics goalie and suddenly the Titans were only one goal behind. From them on, the Titans seemed to get some wind in their sails and outplayed the Civics the rest of the period. Two breakaways by Guillaume Taupier and Guenette in the final minutes of the game were unsuccessful. Coach Chris Levesque pulled Izzo in the final minute but the Titans could not get the equalizer. The Titans were outshot 55-27. Izzo was the game’s first star. The Titans played a much better disciplined game and kept the penalties to a minimum.
Back in action Friday evening at the Centre at 8pm when they will host the South Muskoka Shield.
