Titans take game one over Aces

The Titans continue their journey to the Russell Cup with 4 wins down and 10 more to hoist the Cup. At the Centre on Thursday evening the Titans played a tougher opponent than in the opening round but the outcome was a Titans win by the score of 4-1.  No goals in the first period. Curtis Warren opened the scoring on a pass from Molfetta and Britts. Towards the end of the period a nice goalmouth pass from Magnusson right on the tape of Brandon Case…’s stick and it was 2-0 after 40 minutes.  The Aces got a glimour of hope scoring a goal very early but the Titans countered with a Joey Molfetta goal with assists from Warren and Britts.  The Titans dominated the rest of the game.  Except for a 43 second 5 on 3 by the Aces, the Titans held them off the scoresheet.  Then in the dying seconds, Markus Mossin made an unselfish play and passed off to Curtis Warren who buried the puck in the empty net.  Shots were 65-25 TItans.  3 stars were Britts, Warren and Aces netminder Tye Greschuk.  Game #2 is in Rama on Friday while the teams will return to the Centre for game #3 on Saturday night, game time is 9pm.  Before the game Brandon Case received the Naz Marchese award for the leagues best defensive forward.  Curtis Warren received the honour of being selected as the leagues best forward while Craig Wood was the leagues best goaltender
