Titans get ”W” in shootout over Bulls, 6-5

After losing three straight games the Titans were hosting the Bradford Bulls at the Centre on Friday evening. Needless to say a win was high on the team’s wish list. The Titans struck first in the opening period on a goal by Ryder Murray on a power play. But the Bulls tied the score about half way through the period. The Titans regained the lead with about 2 minutes to play as Nico Wilton buried the puck behind the Bulls netminder. In the middle period the Bulls outscored the Titans 3-2 to send the teams for the second intermission tied at 4 goals each. Guillaume Taupier and Wilton with his second on another power play. Early in the third, the Bulls grabbed their first lead of the game and held off the Titans until they got into penalty problems with about 5 minutes to play. On a 5 on 3 power play, Nico Wilton got his third of the game to tie it with only 1:36 left on the clock. A five minute sudden death overtime period solved nothing so the outcome of the game would be decided by a shootout. Adrien Guenette and Guillaume Taupier each scored in the shootout and Peter Bastuga stopped 2 of 3 shooters to preserve the win. Shots on goal were 55-44 Titans. 3 stars were Wilton (hat trick), Murray(1g-3a) and Josh Brunton of the Bulls. Adrien Guenette chipped in with 3 helpers.
