Titans get huge win on Ryder Murray night

A very special evening at the Centre tonight as the Titans honored their captain Ryder Murray for his accomplishments during his 5 years as a Titans player. Most notably he is the all-time leader in assists as well as games played. Prior to the start of the game several presentations were made to Ryder by the GMHL and the Titans. His number 7 was also retired and was hoisted to the rafters along with those of Richard Abbott, Chris Levesque, Robin Mendelsohn and Andre Leclair. The Titans were hosting the 3rd place South Muskoka Shield, a team that they had yet to beat this season. That was changed tonight as the handed the Shield a 6-2 defeat. The Titans led 2-0 after Nikita Sidenko and Guillaume Taupier had first period goals. In the second period, the teams exchanged goals to send the Titans into the final 20 minutes of the season leading 3-1. Adrien Guenette had the Titans goal. The Shield made it 3-2 early in the third but that’s as close as they would get as the Titans fired 3 more goals in the third. Marc-Antoine Arseneau, Ryder Murray and Taupier with his second closed out the scoring. Veli Makinen faced 28 shots for the win. The Titans had 57 shots against the pair of Shield goaltenders. The 3 stars were Ryder Murray, Guillaume Taupier and Veli Makinen. The Titans are now tied with the Rattlers in 4th place. The Rattlers have one game left to play however. A Rattler loss means the Titans would get home ice against them in the first round of the playoffs that could start as early as Sunday February 19th.
