Pirates edge Titans 3-1

Emotions were running high at the Centre on Thursday night as round #2 of the 2018-19 highway 101 battle between the Titans and the Ville Marie Pirates resumed. A total of 69 minutes in penalties were handed out during the game. The first period saw the Pirates totally dominate outshooting the Titans 17-5 and leading on the scoreboard 2-0.

During the second period, a spark was lit when Kansas Hart squared off with Therrien of the Pirates in a middleweight bout that had no clear winner. The Titans outplayed the Pirates during the middle period directing 18 shots on goal compared to only 6 for Ville Marie. The final 20 minutes saw Joakim Braneby cut the lead in half with his goal at the 3:23 mark. The pressure was on by the Titans as they fired 19 more shots on goal to 7 for Ville Marie. Unfortunately, one those 7 found the back of the Titans net. The Titans could not get any closer and suffered their second loss of the season to the Pirates. Emile Goulet started the game but left after the first period as a result of a puck that managed to crack one of his teeth. Tim Cachard came in to end the game. Total shots on goal were 42-30 Titans. 3 stars were Jean Mathieu Ouellet (VM), Alex Peeters (VM) and Joakim Braneby (T).
