Titans advance to Russell Cup finals

The Centre was buzzing with anticipation on Wednesday March 18th as the Halton Ravens and Temiscaming Titans were getting ready to play in game #7 of their semi-finals series.  Almost 700 fans filled the seats early to get a good close look at their favorite team.  The Titans didn’t wait long to get the fans into the game as Danny Visitor opened the scoring at 4:48.  Later in the period the Titans got a 2-0 lead on a Filip Andreason goal.  But the two goal lead was short lived when the Ravens Shane Bennett scored.  The period ended 2-1 Titans.  The second was similar to the first as the Titans outscored the Ravens 2-1 to lead 4-2 after 40 minutes. Daniel Britts and Marc-Antoine Arseneau scored for the Titans while Brad Sheppard replied for Halton.  A major brawl erupted at the conclusion of the second as most of the players were on the ice with several scuffles that kept the officials quite occupied.  The third period started with Halton’s 3rd goal  by Dylan Bahr to creep to 4-3 but the Titans replied about three minutes later with Andreason’s second of the game.  An empty net goal from Markus Mossin sent the crowd into a frenzy as the Titans celebrated their conquest over the Ravens and advancement to the Russell Cup championship series against the Seguin Huskies.  Shots were 50-48 Titans and the 3 stars were Craig Wood, Daniel Britts & M-A Arseneau.  The teams split their four games losing each both games in their own home rink.  The Huskies held the edge in scoring 19-18.  Game 1 & 2 are scheduled Thursday March 19th and Friday March 20th in Seguin with game 4 slated for Sunday March 22nd and Thursday March 26 at the Centre in Temiscaming.  Game time for both days will be 7:30pm
